February 19-22

I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend!  I did!

This is what our week ahead looks like...(if a snow storm doesn't throw us off!)

In Math on Tuesday, we will have a test over measurement.  On Wednesday, we will begin looking at 3 D figures, then moving on to 2 D figures, and then to lines, segments, and rays.  That is right!  We are moving into Geometry.  This can be a trying time for some students, but others may catch on very quickly depending on how their minds work.  Some students are more geared towards numbers, others are more geared towards shapes and patterns.

This week we will finish our Social Studies unit with a test on Tuesday.  The rest of the week, we will begin looking at Science again.  Wednesday through Friday we will study and have several activities involving the food chain.

In Reading, students will look at drawing conclusions. On Tuesday, we review the concept of drawing conclusions, and showing students how to draw conclusions.  We will use several different small books to work on the concept of drawing conclusions.

In English Language Arts, students will use this week to complete a short research project on one of four chosen presidents.  Students will research on the first day, then will go into teams and collaborate their ideas to complete a Google Presentation on the groups given president.  Students will use paragraph writing techniques from last week to develop a collaborative paper about the team's president.
